Phanbook is one of the fastest-rising young members of the publishing industry in Vietnam. Founded in December 2017 by Phan Thi Le, who was the chairwoman of Phuong Nam Corporation and has more than 25 years of experience in book publishing, Phanbook immediately makes good impressions with an extraordinary collection of excellent and beautifully designed translated books as well as domestic ones.
With the aim to become one of the leading publishers in Vietnam, in which contemporary foreign literature is highly appraised and seek after by the young generation, Phanbook promptly acquired the rights to translate into Vietnamese various celebrated novelists, ranging from Asian and Asian-American writers such as Ko Un, Wu Ming-Yi, Min Ji Lee, Ocean Vuong to South American ones, such as Roberto Bola￱o, Jorge Luis Borges, Julio Cort£zar, Juan Rulfo, to name a few. At the moment, Phanbook is in the final stage of printing and circulating two well acclaimed authors who won the Nobel prize in Literature that areIsaac Bashevis Singer and Gao Xingjian.
Phanbook’smost ambitious project is the collection of canonical literature. Not satisfied with the familiar names that being repeatedly explored by other publishers, we are taking risks to introduce to the readership a variety of never-translated-classic fictions. Not only focusing on well-known authors from English and French literatures such as George Eliot, Lawrence Sterne, Gustave Flaubert, we expand our interest to South American, German, Austrian, and Italian literatures as well.
Being well aware of the rich area of valuable nonfiction and philosophy, Phanbook is the first publisher in Vietnam that will publish the translations of two well-known philosophers that areSørenKierkegaard and AlianBadiou and twointernationally-celebrated authors that arePeter Frankopan and Paul Nabhan.
