Maekyung Publishing Co., Ltd. was founded in 1966 as the publishing company of Maekyung Media Group and spun off as an independent corporation in 2003. The parent company Maekyung Media Group is a media comprehensive group that includes Maeil Business Newspaper, MBN, Maekyung 닷 and Maekyung Publishing. For the first time in Korea, a media center with the concept of an integrated information center was set up and emerged as a comprehensive media group representing Asia, including newspapers, broadcasting, online news magazines and publishing.
Maekyung Publishing Co., Ltd. publishes more than 150 amphibians in various fields, including economic management, children, travel, leisure, humanities and society, and politics, and has so far published 1,500 books. Since 2003, the company has been promoting the publication of a comprehensive book, breaking away from its image as an economic management publication. In addition to self-development and economic management, the company has expanded its scope to include humanities, philosophy and essay writing, making it a comprehensive publication with diverse spectra.
The books published so far include “IT Works,” which introduced a new method of editing in its self-development book, “The Joy of Throwing away,” which developed a new concept of minimalism, and “The Harvard Business School Series,” which showcased key concepts of economic management. Since 2015, the company has launched the humanities brand “Thinking Station,” and has been striving to expand its field with humanities, history, literature and philosophy, including “The Merchants of the Holy See,” which also delve into the Vatican’s scandal, and “The Collection of Works of Lee Hyo-seok’s Literature Award.”
